A woman has alleged that unknown miscreants created her fake profile on Facebook and posted obscene contents on the profile, police said on Wednesday.
The victim, a resident of west Delhi's Shalimar Bagh, claimed that she has been getting obscene calls and messages from a particular number.
In her complaint to police, the victim alleged that she started receiving text messages from an unknown number in July, 2012. Within a few days, she started receiving missed calls from the same number.
At first, she thought that someone had played a prank on her by giving her missed calls and sending her vulgar messages.
"On August 13, a friend told me about an obscene profile that had been created in my name on Facebook and it had obscene pictures and content," the woman stated. She then approached police.
On the basis of the complaint, a case under Information Technology Act was registered with crime branch's cyber cell. "The matter is being investigated," a police official said.
