3 arrested at Fife motel after teen girl on drugs found to be prostituted there - TheNewsTribune.com

Three people accused of harboring a 15-year-old runaway at a Fife motel and pimping her out were arrested Wednesday, police said.

Officers stopped the girl in the 3400 block of Pacific Highway East for a pedestrian violation and began questioning her once they realized she was on drugs. The girl, from Marysville, had apparently run away five days earlier.

The girl told detectives she had been staying with a man and two women at a nearby motel. Detectives served search warrants at two motel rooms and found drugs, syringes, cell phones and a computer allegedly used to post online prostitution ads of the teen and the two women.

Both women denied knowing the girl was underage, police said. The man claimed he didn't know what was going on in the motel but police said he was arrested in one of the rooms and had a key to the other.

The girl was released to her mother and prosecutors have not yet decided whether to charge her in Juvenile Court. The women were arrested on suspicion of prostitution and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. The man was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of promoting sexual abuse of a minor and various drug-related crimes.

According to a criminal complaint issued by the Kanawha County Magistrate Court, this happened Friday, September 6, in the area of 1719 Washington Street West, outside of Rite Aid.

The criminal complaint states that a Terrance Lowell Ramsey, 28, attempted to sell drugs to an individual.  The subject gave dispatchers Ramsey's vehicle registration.

According to the criminal complaint, the female is Ramsey's girlfriend.

Police received consent from both the male and female living in the residence to conduct a search, in which they found approximately 16.8 grams of a drug known as MDMA, and several plastic and zip lock bags, which according to police, are consistent with the selling of narcotics.

An arrest warrant was issued for Ramsey, in which he was arrested Saturday, September 21.

Ramsey is being charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, as well as shoplifting.

He is being held in the South Central Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.

More than 1200 people killed by high-risk mental health patients over past 10 ... - Mirror.co.uk

More than 1,200 people have been killed by high-risk mental health patients over the past 10 years.

The figures emerged after paranoid schizophrenic Phillip Simelane, 23, was jailed indefinitely last week for knifing to death Christina Edkins, 16, on a bus.

He had been on the files of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Trust for eight years and was freed from jail unsupervised weeks before he killed.

The Manchester University study showed 10 of the killings between 2001-11 were random and 10 of the 1,216 killed were children.

The study also showed that suicides among mentally ill patients are increasing - from 1,175 in 2010 to 1,333 in 2011.

And figures show that 189 mentally ill patients committed suicide after having comitted murder.

Experts blamed cuts in mental health budgets and pointed out that in the last 30 years the number of in-patient beds for mental health patients was slashed from 87,396 to 23,208.

Marjorie Wallace CBE, chief executive of mental health charity SANE said: "What is truly shocking and disappointing is that the same factors have been identified case after case.

"The lack of provision of beds, together with the budget cuts means health care trusts are taking a gamble," she added.

However, the study published in July did find the number of murder victims has fallen in recent years from 106 in 2009 to 76 in 2010.

Morsi to stand trial for incitement to murder - Aljazeera.com

Ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi is to stand trial for "incitement to murder", state media reported without giving a date for the procedings.

The prosecutor, Hesham Barakat, referred Morsi and 14 other Brotherhood members to a Cairo criminal court on charges of "committing acts of violence, and inciting killing and thuggery", the state news agency reported on Sunday.

The charges relate to violence outside the presidential palace last December, after Morsi had ignited protesters' rage by expanding his powers.

At least seven people were killed in the ensuing clashes.

Morsi is also being investigated over his escape from jail during the 2011 uprising against former President Hosni Mubarak.

Morsi was overthrown by the army on July 3, just a year into his four-year term, following mass protests against his rule.

Since then, the authorities have mounted a fierce crackdown against his Muslim Brotherhood, rounding up most of its top leaders.

The security forces have also killed hundreds of Morsi supporters during protests since his downfall.

In turn, the government accuses the Brotherhood of committing acts of violence. Around 100 members of the security forces have also been killed since August 14, when the police used force to break up pro-Morsi protest camps in Cairo.

Chvrches' Lauren Mayberry stood up to the great unwashed today when she asked them–very politely–to stop sending her obscenely creepy messages on Twitter and Facebook.

Since the band's profile has grown over the past few months, Lauren has been the focus of explicit messages on the social networking site. These messages proposition her in many different ways, ranging from laughable (in the most tragic sense, not comically funny) to disconcertingly creepy.

Responding to a user who suggested that they would make "superior love", Lauren wrote on the band's official Facebook page: "Dear guys, please stop sending us emails like this."

"This is one of the more polite ones. Other recent classics include "I'm going to give her anal" and "I'd fuck the accent right out of her and she'd love it". (No you wouldn't; no, she really wouldn't.)

"Seriously. Stop.

"K, tks, bye."

CUNY shuts down an obscene center - New York Post

City College of New York officials insist their decision to shutter a lefty hangout was unrelated to last month's harassment of faculty member David Petraeus.

Not that there would be anything wrong if it were. The good news is that the Guillermo Morales/Assata Shakur Student and Community Center is no longer. Its presence had been a blot on CUNY's integrity for nearly a quarter of a century.

The most galling part was its name, which honored two murderous fugitives who now live in Fidel Castro's Cuba.

Guillermo Morales was the chief bombmaker for the Puerto Rican nationalist group FALN, whose most notable attack was in 1975 at Fraunces Tavern. Among the four killed there was Frank Connor — himself a CCNY alum. As his son, Joseph, put it: "My father certainly deserved better than to have his killer honored at the college he attended."

Assata Shakur is better known as Joanne Chesimard, a Black Panther who executed New Jersey trooper Werner Foerster in cold blood on the NJ Turnpike in 1973. Like Morales, she escaped custody and made her way to Cuba.

The center was opened as a sop to students in 1989 after they protested a tuition hike. So however long it was in coming, every New Yorker should applaud a decision that has now put an office for career and professional development in place of a center named for two terrorists.

Crocodile and Wood ML63 AMG Interior by TopCar Is Obscene [Photo Gallery] - autoevolution

Thought the designo interior from Mercedes was too expensive and opulent? You haven't seen anything yet.

Somebody with a very large bank account in Russia is currently surrounded by real crocodile skin and more wood than in a sky lounge. That's because TopCar has targeted the interior of the ML 63 AMG in an obscene way.

FIrst the crocodile part. Brown reptile hide has been added everywhere from the door cards, most of the dash to the arm rests and seats. They even put it on the arm support you use when you're playing with the Command system.

Even though wood doesn't sound as impressive as reptilian hyde, what TopCar have done with it is. They changed the rim of the steering wheel, the dash, door panels with real wood. We've never seen wood used for the side of the seats like that.

Because the car is black, we think it belongs to a previous project car, an Inferno Black ML63 AMG which TopCar revealed in July.

Police inaction preceded domestic violence victim's murder, inquest told - The Guardian

The murder of a domestic violence victim in front of 300 people was precipitated by a "cascade" of police inaction and omissions, the South Australian coroner has been told.

Police never charged Zialloh Abrahimzadeh with assault, or even spoke to him, during the 13 months that his wife and children complained to police of his abuse up to the time of her murder, counsel assisting Naomi Kereru said on Monday.

Kereru was opening the inquest into the death of Zahra Abrahimzadeh, 44, who was fatally stabbed by her estranged husband at a Persian function at the Adelaide Convention Centre in March 2010.

He is serving a minimum of 26 years in jail for the murder.

Kereru said Abrahimzadeh fled the family home with her three children in February 2009 and shortly after filed complaints with police.

Against a background of domestic violence, she and her eldest daughter reported being assaulted by Zialloh Abrahimzadeh and being subjected to threats that he would "burn down the house with the family inside".

Kereru then listed a "cascade" of failures and omissions that the family encountered "at almost every point of contact with the police".

She said a domestic violence worker also reported that Abrahimzadeh was "petrified of being killed" after her brother-in-law was seen in a car across the road from the safe house where she and the children were living.

The inquest is continuing.

Woman on bond for child neglect arrested with drugs - La Crosse Tribune

A La Crosse woman accused of neglecting a 3-year-old girl faces new drug charges.

Police found 57 grams (about 2 ounces) of marijuana packaged in 40 bags and two digital scales in a car Josie Dikeman, 21, was driving about 11:30 p.m. Thursday during a traffic stop, according to police reports.

Also arrested was boyfriend and passenger Mark Hellerud, 20, of La Crosse.

Both face charges of possession with intent to deliver THC and possession of drug paraphernalia as party to the crime when they appear Tuesday in La Crosse County Circuit Court.

At the time of her arrest, Dikeman was out on a $1,000 cash bond for a case filed earlier this year that accused her of neglecting her ex-boyfriend's child by depriving her of water so she wouldn't wet her pants and forcing her to suffer through 90-minute time-outs without sitting.

After a medical exam revealed old and new fractures to her hands and feet, the child told investigators Dikeman and the girl's father, 23-year-old Dustin Barnes, hit her, reports stated.

Dikeman's mother told police the couple didn't interact with the girl and forced her to sit at the dinner table by herself for at least 45 minutes until she finished her food.

Another child who lived in the house said the 3-year-old is barricaded in her room, according to reports.

Barnes will be sentenced Sept. 4. Dikeman's case is pending.

5 People Killed In Fiery Crash In Burbank Underpass - LAist

Five people were killed and one person was injured in a fiery crash involving one car on the 5 freeway in Burbank early this morning.

The crash happened around 4:20 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway, firefighters told City News Service. Burbank police Sgt. Darin Ryburn told CNS, "It's a horrific scene. It's just, it's just, it's a tragedy."

The Nissan spun out after hitting a guard rail and burst into flames, according to the Associated Press. An 18-year-old woman was able to escape the wreckage, but the others were trapped in the burning car. It was too late for them by the time firefighters arrived on the scene. The woman had a broken leg and was transported to a hospital in serious condition. Reuters reported that she was coherent at the scene.

Speed was likely the culprit, investigators say. The crash happened in a curving section of an underpass where the old state highway 99 used to curve from one side of the railroad tracks to another, CNS reports. The Associated Press notes that this area has been prone to accidents in the past; freeway speeds are quickly reduced because of nearby homes.

The Scott Road off-ramp was closed while authorities investigated.

Drugs suspect held in Amsterdam in 'National Crime Agency first' - BBC News

A suspected drugs trafficker has become the first British fugitive to be arrested overseas since the National Crime Agency (NCA) launched on Monday.

Craig Allen, 50, from Sheffield in South Yorkshire, was arrested in Amsterdam on Tuesday.

He is wanted in connection with seizures of heroin and cocaine dating back to 2010, said the NCA, which has been dubbed the UK's answer to the FBI.

Mr Allen was arrested by armed police from the UK and Netherlands.

The officers captured him as he left a furniture store in the Dutch capital. British authorities will now attempt to extradite him back to the UK.

The NCA said it is believed he oversaw the importation of drugs while living in Thailand.

Officers from the NCA, South Yorkshire Police and the Dutch National Crime Squad were involved in the operation to track down Mr Allen, who was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant.

During a subsequent search of a flat in Amsterdam, officers found 4kg (9lb) of what is believed to be cocaine and 500,000 euros (about £425,000).

Dave Allen, head of the NCA's Fugitives Unit, said: "We believe this man, who is the first fugitive to be captured abroad since the NCA launched, is involved in the importation and supply of large quantities of drugs."

Chito Miranda follows up sex scandal probe - ABS CBN News

MANILA -- Singer Chito Miranda visited the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday to seek updates on the investigation into the circulation of his personal videos online.

The Parokya ni Edgar frontman spoke with the NBI's Cybercrime Divsion specifically on the subject of the viral spread of a second video showing him and girlfriend, Neri Naig, having sexual intercourse.

Miranda first brought the case to NBI on August 12, a week after the first clip made the rounds online. At the time, the 37-year-old singer said he lost his hard drive, which contained the video files, in a theft.

Expressing dismay over the leak of the second video, Miranda said the NBI has his full cooperation in the investigation.

NBI Cybercrime Division Head Agent Ronald Aguto, meanwhile, assured the singer that the group will do everything it can to track the suspect uploading the videos online.

In September, NBI Cybercrime Divsion chief Vic Lorenzo said it already has leads on the suspect. At the time, Lorenzo said he was inclined to believe that both sex videos were uploaded by the same person, but added the investigation has yet to establish links.

He went on to emphasize that those found guilty of violating Republic Act 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, may be imprisoned for a minimum of three years to a maximum of seven years. -- with a report from Ricky Velasco, dzMM

GaGa v. Miley: Who's the Next Queen of Obscene? - Big Hollywood (blog)

The MTV Video Music Awards headlined Lady GaGa and audiences were ready for some over-the-top, shocking performances from the Lady.

What wasn't expected, was the show stealer Miley Cyrus to overshadow GaGa. The former Disney Princess Cyrus fit "nicely into the crown for Queen of Obscene, funny hair horns and all."

After emerging in a furry gray leotard with a teaddy bear face to perform "We Can't Stop," she shed her suit to reveal a vinyl bikini. "She twerked, changed into a nude bikini, ran a fan's foam finger along her privates as Robin Thicke appeared on stage to perform 'Blurred Lines,' then gave the singer a lap dance."

One thing is clear, Cyrus is making sure we know she is "all-grown up."  Who knows what will come next year to top this performance?

Here is a photo of Will Smith's family reacting to the show:

Man passed out, arrested with drugs - Cookeville Herald Citizen

PUTNAM COUNTY — A man passed out in the parking lot of a North Washington Avenue gas station is facing multiple charges after police found him in possession of what they believed to be meth, according to several warrants on file.

Friday morning, Officer Josh Ward responded to the T-Mart store where a man was passed out in his truck.

"Upon arrival I observed a male passed out in an unlocked vehicle with the keys in the ignition," a report by Officer Ward states.

After several attempts to wake the man, he was identified as Timothy Edward Clinton, 40, of John Garrison Road.

"Mr. Clinton appeared to be disoriented and did not know how long he had been in the parking lot," Officer Ward's report states.

"Mr. Clinton appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance based on my training and experience."

Because he was apparently intoxicated and in control of a vehicle, he was placed under arrest and searched.

"I located a clear plastic baggie with approximately two grams of an off-white crystallized substance in Mr. Clinton's right key pocket," the report states.

"In Mr. Clinton's right side pants pocket I located a used syringe with off white residue."

He was taken to the Putnam County jail where he was booked on charges of public intoxication, simple possession of a schedule II drug and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

5 hikers killed after being trapped by rock slide on Colorado trail - Fox News

Five hikers were killed Monday after becoming trapped by a rock slide on a trail in south-central Colorado, authorities say.

A 13-year-old girl who survived the slide was flown to a hospital in Denver for treatment and a seventh person was unaccounted for, the Chaffee County Sheriff's Department said.

The slide occurred at about 11 a.m. on the trail to Agnes Vaille falls in the Pike and San Isabel National Forest, an easy day hike about a 2 1/2 hour drive southwest of Denver.

The names and hometowns of the hikers haven't been released. Rescuers from at least five agencies were working at the scene Monday afternoon.

The trail is below Mount Princeton, a 14,197-foot peak. The National Forest Service describes the trail as short and relatively easy.

The trail is one of the first hikes recommended to people new to the area and is also popular with tourists, said Margaret Dean, a regular hiker who has hiked the trail with her 7-year-old grandson.

Dean, a copy assistant at The Mountain Mail newspaper in Salida, said the trail is easily accessible and provides a view of the falls and the Chalk Creek Valley in the Collegiate Peaks, which contains many mountains over 14,000-feet tall.

Agnes Vaille, the waterfall's namesake, was a Denver mountaineer who died in 1925 while attempting a difficult winter climb of Longs Peak, elevation 14,259 feet.

At least 43 killed, 40 others injured as bus plunges off cliff in Guatemala - ABC Online

Updated September 10, 2013 07:43:27

At least 43 people have been killed and 40 others injured after a bus carrying scores of passengers plunged down a steep cliff in western Guatemala.

Fire department spokesman Cecilio Chacaj said the bus fell 70 metres to the ground after careening off the road in the municipality of San Martin Jilotepeque, 64 kilometres west of the capital.

Local residents who rushed to the scene of the crash volunteered to help rescuers pull victims stuck in the wreckage, Mr Chacaj said.

"Forty people were confirmed dead at the site of the accident and three more at the hospital," he told reporters.

Some victims were taken to hospitals in Guatemala City, while others were treated at local hospitals.

The bus had left from the western province of Chimaltenango on its way to San Martin Jilotepeque.

Local television said many of those on the bus were vendors taking farm produce to market.

The last major bus accident in Guatemala occurred in 2008, when an overcrowded bus slid off a highway and down a 15-metre slope some 65 kilometres south-east of Guetemala City, killing 53.

Two arrested in attempted drug deal at Canton tennis courts - Atlanta Journal Constitution

Two 19-year-olds from Canton have been arrested in what appears to be a drug deal gone wrong in an affluent Canton neighborhood, authorities said.

Deputies were dispatched to the tennis courts in the Bridgemill subdivision in Canton to investigate a report of an assault Monday afternoon, said Cpl. Jay Baker of the Cherokee Sheriff's Department.

Christopher Lewis told deputies he brought fake marijuana and a three-cell flashlight for protection when he went to meet someone at the pavilion near the tennis courts for a drug transaction. Lewis said he heard the person he was meeting was robbing people, which is why he didn't bring real drugs.

According to Lewis a different person, Jami Jordan, showed up. Thinking Jordan was about to rob him, Lewis pulled out his flashlight after allegedly giving Jordan a bag of leaves.

Lewis told deputies that Jordan fired two rounds from a semi-automatic pistol, leaving shrapnel in the soles of his shoes and a scratch on his shin. Deputies found two shell casings and a zip-lock bag of leaves in a nearby trash can.

Lewis was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He was released on an $11,200.00 bond Monday night. Jordan was arrested Tuesday morning and remains in jail on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and attempt to commit armed robbery.

Baker said the investigation is continuing because detectives believe more people were involved.

23 more people killed in Baghdad bombings - Press TV

On Monday evening, at least 15 people were killed and 35 others injured in a bomb attack targeting mourners at a funeral in northern Baghdad.

Hours later, two more bombs -- one near a park and another in a café -- exploded in northern neighborhoods of the capital, leaving eight people dead and several others injured.

On Sunday, a bomber detonated his explosive belt inside a tent where a funeral was being held in Baghdad's southern neighborhood of Dora, leaving 16 people dead and dozens more injured.

A day earlier, 73 people were killed in two bomb attacks targeting mourners in the neighborhood of Sadr City in Baghdad.

The incidents are the latest in a string of attacks across Iraq that have left more than 5,000 people dead since the beginning of 2013.

According to the United Nations, a total of 1,057 Iraqis, including 928 civilians, were killed and another 2,326 were wounded in terrorist attacks throughout the country in July -- the deadliest month since 2008.

And about 800 Iraqis lost their lives in August in the deadly attacks, a third of which took place in Baghdad.

Iraq's Interior Ministry has said that militants have launched an open war in Iraq and they want to push the Middle Eastern country into chaos.

"The country is currently facing an open war from bloodthirsty sectarian forces that aim to plunge the country into chaos," the Interior Ministry said in a statement issued on July 30.

Sayreville man gets 30 days for selling obscene materials to investigators ... - The Star-Ledger - NJ.com

PARAMUS – A Sayreville man was sentenced to 30 days in the Bergen County jail after he admitted selling obscene material to investigators who posed as children online, according to Cliffview Pilot.

Jeffrey Zuber, 41, had sent a photo of his genitals to a girl he thought was 13 years old. He also drove to a Dunkin Donuts in Paramus for sex with a girl he thought was 11 years old, according to the report.

He was arrested in Paramus.

The crimes occurred in 2011 and involved investigators from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office who troll the Internet for cyber predators.

In April 2011, Zuber sold what they described as "obscene material" to them online. On June 7, he drove to Paramus, where investigators arrested him.

Zuber, who has been free on $75,000 bail, asked a judge for probation, stating that he had been depressed after his divorce and damage to his home from Hurricane Irene.

He pleaded guilty to a third-degree charge of selling obscene material and agreed to seek counseling.

In exchange, prosecutors dropped nine other charges.

Osaka city worker busted for playing obscene amounts of solitaire on the clock - ROCKETNEWS24

solitaire

The Secretary General of the Osaka Board of Elections saw his annual pay docked two full months after it was discovered he'd spent 281 hours playing solitaire on the clock over a yearlong period ending in July.

What's most amazing is that he got away with it all year until – and this is not a joke – a whistleblower finally had to come forward and turn the guy in. That kind of information leak certainly isn't on the same level as the Bradley Mannings of the world, but it must have taken some guts for the guy to speak out about his boss's solitaire addiction.

Considering that there is an average of about 211 working days per year for a Japanese government worker, this actually only translates to around 1.3 hours per day playing solitaire. If the same standards apply to looking at cute cat pictures during the work day, we think a large chunk of the workforce is in trouble.

? Emo Kitty is sad to hear he caused your pay cut.

A police impersonator was arrested after allegedly accusing a real detective of being a drug dealer in Pueblo, Colorado.

Roland Herrera, 63, was caught out after approaching an off-duty officer at a mobile phone retailer before his cover was blown, police say.

The imposter is said to have approached the detective and demanded he hand over his drugs, claiming he was a genuine police officer.

Clashes in Central African Republic kill up to 10 people - Press TV

The clashes took place on Sunday on the northern edge of the town of Bossangoa, where up to 73 people lost their lives, "including two local workers of the humanitarian NGO ACTED … by Seleka fighters," a military source said.

Bossangoa in the northwest is the main town of the Ouham district where General Bozize was born.

On January 11, Bozizé and the representatives of the Seleka rebels signed an agreement in Libreville, Gabon, after three days of negotiations brokered by regional neighbors.

However, the deal fell through and Michel Djotodia, leading thousands of Seleka rebels, captured Bangui and proclaimed himself president after seizing power from Bozizé on March 24.

Seleka rebels launched an offensive against the CAR government in December 2012.

On Saturday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) expressed concern over the humanitarian conditions in the African country after finding evidence of widespread human rights abuses.

The report said thousands of people had been displaced and at least eight villages razed to the ground during recent violence in the northern CAR, which has long been lawless territory outside the towns.

Despite the presence of a regional military peacekeeping force in the capital Bangui, the security situation has been chaotic across the CAR since Djotodia's power grab.

There are many mineral resources, including gold and diamond, in the Central African Republic. However, the country is extremely poor and has faced a series of rebellions and coups since it gained independence in 1960.

Chito Miranda brings sex video case to NBI - ABS CBN News

MANILA -- Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda wants to track down the suspect behind the leak of his controversial sex video with girlfriend Neri Naig.

The 37-year-old singer brought the case to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday to request a probe into the circulation of the private video.

In his affidavit submitted to NBI Director Nonnatus Rojas, Miranda cited a violation of the Republic Act 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.

If proven guilty of the violation, the one who leaked the video may be imprisoned for up to seven years and fined up to P500,000.

When the sex video scandal erupted early this month, Miranda said his room had been robbed. A hard drive, which contained the video among other files, were allegedly among those lost in the theft.

On Tuesday, NBI cybercrime division head agent Ronaldo Aguto said the agency has already launched an investigation and expressed confidence that they will track down the suspect behind the video's spread.

Last Saturday, Miranda only laughed off reports that a certain Alfonso Yanga Miranda who claimed to be his "son" was the one who released the sex video. In an open letter posted on Facebook, "Alfonso" said he was behind the robbery of Miranda's room.

The singer, however, only made light of the post.

ALAMEDA, Calif. - Oakland Raiders defensive co-ordinator Jason Tarver has apologized for making an obscene gesture directed at the officials and will be disciplined by the team.

Tarver was caught on television using the one-finger gesture toward the officials after a flag was thrown on cornerback Mike Jenkins for a hit to the head of Pittsburgh running back Le'Veon Bell in Sunday's 21-18 win. The flag was eventually picked up.

"I apologize for my action on the sideline of yesterday's game," Tarver said in a statement Monday. "It was in the heat of the moment, and I regret drawing attention away from the Raiders players and what they accomplished."

The NFL said Monday that any discipline for Tarver will be handled by the Raiders.

Coach Dennis Allen did not excuse the behaviour at his weekly news conference.

"I don't know it's one of those things where you say let's forget about it," Allen said. "He's made his statement about what happened. The only thing I'll say is I think he's done an outstanding job with this defence. I think he's a fiery and emotional guy and our players have really taken to that. I think they've embraced that type of attitude and he has the defence playing at a high level right now."

Tennessee defensive co-ordinator Chuck Cecil was fined $40,000 by the league in 2010 for a similar gesture.

Cal Fire Battalion Chief Arrested in Roseville - KTXL

    ROSEVILLE–

An undercover drug sting in Roseville netted an unexpected person – a Cal Fire battalion chief.

The bust happened near Harding Boulevard and Macario Court, an area of commercial businesses and motels. Police often do undercover operations to keep drugs out of the area.

Roseville Police officers were out there in the early morning hours of Sept. 30 when they arrested three people for drugs, one of them being Cal Fire Battalion Chief Ray Wright.

"He was arrested on a charge of transportation of methamphetamine," said Dee Dee Gunther, Roseville Police spokeswoman. "The transportation of methamphetamine usually means that you drive methamphetamine in a car to take it someplace for the purpose of selling or furnishing it to somebody else."

Wright is on his own time off from Cal Fire, which he joined in 2006 when his former department of Placer Consolidated Fire District joined Cal Fire.

Wright is no stranger to public service. His dad retired as chief of Placer Consolidated back in 1999, and his brother is a deputy with the Placer County Sheriff's Department.

Roseville Police have targeted this area of drugs and other crimes.

"[We're sending] a message that we don't welcome any kind of criminal activity in Roseville. So they were doing one of those kind of routine operations and, unfortunately, this person was one of the people arrested," Gunther said.

The District Attorney's office will be looking at this case further by next week. No formal charges have been filed yet.

National Police narcotics detectives arrested Vanny Rosyanne, an adult ... - Jakarta Post

National Police narcotics detectives arrested Vanny Rosyanne, an adult magazine model and former girlfriend of drug lord Freddy Budiman, on Monday for alleged possession of drugs.

The force's narcotics division chief, Brig. Gen. Arman Depari, said on Tuesday that Vanny was apprehended in a hotel in Jakarta at around 10:30 p.m. and that detectives confiscated shabu-shabu (methamphetamines) and a bong (a water pipe used to smoke the drug) at the time of her arrest.

"She is still being questioned at the police's narcotics division headquarters in Cawang, North Jakarta," Arman said after a meeting in South Jakarta.

Arman added that the police had moved in and made the arrest after being tipped off by a member of the public.

Vanny's former boyfriend, Freddy, was sentenced to death on July 15 for attempting to smuggle a total of 1.8 million ecstasy pills into the country from China and the Netherlands in a case that is widely considered the country's biggest drug case in the last 10 years.

In the same month, Vanny revealed to the media that she was allowed to pay conjugal visits to Freddy, who was incarcerated at the Cipinang Narcotics Penitentiary in East Jakarta.

Following Vanny's comments, the Law and Human Rights Ministry conducted an investigation and dismissed Thurman Hutapea as the prison's chief warden and transferred Freddy to a maximum-security prison on Nusakambangan Island.

On Aug. 6, authorities found raw materials and tools to make shabu-shabu at the Cipinang prison's training center, which were allegedly left by Freddy before being transferred to Nusakambangan.

11 people killed, 17 injured in bomb attacks in Egypt Sinai - Press TV

According to a security official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the first attack took place on Wednesday near a military checkpoint in the Imam Ali (AS) area in Rafah, on the border with the Gaza Strip while the second one occurred outside an intelligence facility in the same area.

The explosions caused damage to a number of buildings in the area, the source added.

Earlier this week, the Egyptian army killed nine militants in the peninsula during a mop-up operation.

The operation was carried out by army troops, who backed by helicopter gunships, attacked militant hideouts in the restive area.

The army also discovered explosives, weapons and ammunition during its operation in the villages of el-Mahdiya and Naga Shabana.

The Sinai has long been considered a safe haven for militants who use the region as a base for terror activities. In recent months, the remote desert region has been the scene of growing violence and militant attacks on security forces.

On August 19, militants ambushed a police convoy in the northern region of Sinai. At least 25 policemen were killed in the attack, which took place close to the town of Rafah. It was one of the deadliest attacks on security forces in decades.

In August 2012, sixteen Egyptian soldiers were killed in an attack on a police station near the border with Gaza.

In response, Cairo launched an offensive against terrorists in Sinai, sending thousands of troops backed by tanks and heavy equipment into the region.

Broward teacher arrested for sending sexually explicit emails to student is ... - MiamiHerald.com

A Broward teacher accused of sending more than 100 sexually explicit emails to a 14-year-old student was released from jail Saturday morning.

Warren Zilka, 42, an eighth grade teacher at Imagine Charter School at Broward turned himself in to the Coral Springs Police Department Friday afternoon.

Police learned about the inappropriate exchanges when the victim told investigators about Zilka's emails Monday. Their correspondence went as far back as May 2013, police said.

The "explicit and disgusting" messages were sent from a school-issued computer, said Carla Kmiotek, a police spokeswoman.

Zilka faces two felony charges of transmitting material harmful to a minor and unlawful transmission of obscene material. He was released on $3,500 bail at 2 a.m. Saturday, according Broward County's Central Intake Bureau.

CBS4 reported that the charter school's principal, Linda H. Arnold released a statement that reads, in part: "We are extremely disappointed to hear of Mr. Zilka's arrest and will continue to work cooperatively as we have been doing with the Coral Springs Police Department. Although we are a public charter school, we follow all of the statutes of the State of Florida and required background checks. At this time, our main concern is to continue to provide a safe and secure environment."

Zilka is the second Broward charter school teacher to be arrested in less than three weeks for making sexual advances on students.

Stevie Glasspool, a former teacher at Mavericks Charter High School, was arrested on Aug. 22 after using Facebook to ask students to have sex with her.

Man kills four, injures 11 in China knife attack - BBC News

A man has killed at least four people and left 11 injured in a knife attack in the Chinese city of Chengdu.

The attack happened on Sunday night on a bus. As it left a stop, the man began attacking passengers, reports said.

The driver stopped the bus and opened the doors so passengers could escape, but the attacker then disembarked and turned his knife on passers-by.

Witnesses say the driver and other people cornered the attacker, who was eventually shot in the leg by police.

Many of the injured suffered stab wounds. Local media say the youngest victim is only 10 - it is not known if she was one of those killed.

Police say the attacker is a 41-year-old man surnamed Li from an area near Chengdu, which is in Sichuan province.

Mr Li reportedly told police he had arguments over money with his family the day before. His exact motive for the attack was not revealed by the police.

This is the latest in a series of apparently random attacks in China. Earlier this month, a man wielding a knife killed three people on a bus in Henan province.

In July, a man said to be mentally ill, injured several people in Shenzhen, Guangdong province. This came two days after another man was arrested in Henan province for a knife attack that killed five.
