Three arrested after firearms and drugs worth £400000 recovered - stv.tv

Three men have been arrested in connection with the recovery of firearms and drugs worth £400,000 across a series of homes and business premises in the West of Scotland.

The police operation, which was carried out on Friday, saw officers search four properties in Chryston, Paisley and Johnstone.

They recovered Class A drugs including heroin and cocaine with an estimated street value of more than £410,000.

Heroin and cocaine worth more than £250,000 were recovered from a business premises in McDowall Street, Johnstone. A firearm was also recovered.

A 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with alleged drugs and firearms offences.

A quantity of "mixing" agent was found at a house in Teviot Terrace, Foxbar, Paisley.

Cocaine and heroin with a street value thought to run to £76,000 were recovered from a house in St Anne's Wynd, Erskine. Several firearms, cash and "adulterant" mixing agent were also discovered by police.

A 42-year-old man was arrested in connection with alleged drugs and firearms offences. He will appear alongside the 32-year-old man at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday.

Officers searching a house in Laverock Terrace, Chryston recovered heroin with an estimated street value of £93,000. A 55-year-old man was arrested in connection with alleged drugs offences. He will appear before Airdrie Sheriff Court on Monday.

The street value of the drugs recovered, in addition to the mixing agent found, had a further potential of around £3m.

Detective Chief Inspector Kenny Armstrong, of Police Scotland's Specialist Crime Division, said of the operation: "This operation demonstrates our continued efforts in tackling serious and organised crime, and rid our communities of drugs. This remains a very high priority for us and we will continue to keep people safe by targeting those who are involved in the supply of illegal drugs.

"Through effective intelligence gathering and the help and support from the public we will continue to deal with these issues head on. If anyone has any information about drugs in their community I would ask them to please pass that information on to police and be assured that we take the appropriate action.
