Police have arrested 22 people, including seven patched Mongrel Mob members, as part of extensive drug raids today.

Around 100 officers were involved in this morning's raids, following an eight month investigation targeting the gang's activities in Marlborough.

In total, 250 charges relating to posession and supply of drugs have been laid.

Inspector Simon Feltham said a team of police in Blenheim had put in a lot of work into gathering evidence about the gang's drug dealing activities, which had led to more offenders being identified outside of the area.

Mr Feltham said 14 of those arrested were located at Marlborough addresses.

Search warrants were also executed today in Lower Hutt, Auckland, Havelock North, Palmerston North and Christchurch.

"Since the Mongrel Mob turned up in Marlborough, police have been vigilant in monitoring their activities. Neither police nor the Marlborough community are prepared to tolerate their drug dealing.

"This operation has resulted in the arrest of all of the senior members of this criminal group in Marlborough and it sends a very clear message to their associates that they are not, and never will be, welcome here," Mr Feltham said.

As part of today's operation, a drug laboratory was located in Auckland and cannabis grow rooms were found in Hokitika and Wakamarina.

At a Nelson address, a large quantity of plastic bags commonly used for the distribution of methamphetamine, with Mongrel Mob insignia printed on them, were also recovered.

Mr Feltham said quatities of cash, about one kilogram of dried cannabis and 24 plants, more than nine grammes of methamphetamine, a firearm, stolen computers and drug utensils have also been recovered.

Young children were present at some addresses and police have made three referrals to Child, Youth and Family.

Further charges and arrests are likely, police said.
