A Cashton woman has been arrested after she allegedly stole the drug fentanyl from a Viroqua nursing home.

Dawn Frederick, 40, was scheduled to appear in Vernon County Circuit Court on Monday. She was arrested Friday, the Vernon County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Frederick allegedly took four fentanyl patches while she was employed as the dietary manager at Vernon Manor in Viroqua.

"She had a partial patch in her possession at the time of her arrest," said Sheriff John Spears in the news release.

Fentanyl is a powerful pain killer, estimated to be 100 times more potent than morphine.
