Despite his age, Sir David is promoting his latest television show, The Rise of the Animals: Triumph of the Vertebrates for BBC2.

The busy naturalist has also finished a second series of Natural Curiosities for UKTV's Eden channel.

He began his career in 1952 and eventually became the controller of BBC2 in 1965.

Sir David is famous for his wildlife documentaries, which earned him a knighthood in 1985 and an Order of Merit in 2005.
