MANATEE COUNTY --
Two people were killed early Sunday in a single-vehicle traffic crash on State Road 684 in Manatee County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Chrissie Woods, 26 and Jontrease Yarn, 22, both of Palmetto died when their car struck a concrete utility pole and tree at 4:35 a.m.
Troopers said Woods lost control of the Mercury Sable sedan while traveling eastbound in the 1200 block of State Road 684. The vehicle went over the curb and the left side hit the utility pole. As the vehicle spun around, the front hit a tree.
The crash remains under investigation.
