The UKIP MEP who spoke of this country giving aid to "bongo-bongo land" has made all opponents of wasteful foreign aid look like cold-hearted, pea-brain bigots.
Just like him.
Some say that Godfrey Bloom spoke for many in Britain.
Well, I am no fan of British foreign aid being siphoned off by Third World despots to buy private jets, Paris property portfolios or Rolex watches.
And he sure as hell didn't speak for me.
It is perfectly reasonable to object to this country lavishing aid on somewhere like India, which has its own space programme not to mention its own foreign aid programme.
It is fair enough to object to foreign aid being stolen by fun-loving Third World dictators.
WikiLeaks reckons £1.2million given to Sierra Leone by the UK in 2009 for peacekeeping was spent on plasma televisions and other luxury items.
That must have kept the peace for while.
It is an obscenity that money given for the poor, the hungry and the desperate is stolen by corrupt regimes or spent somewhere, like india, where it is received with undisguised contempt.
But the waste of foreign aid will never end while the likes of Godfrey Bloom is spouting off his stupid mouth.
Bloom's bongo-bongo ravings came in the same week as a UKIP candidate, Dean Perks of Dudley, spoke in favour of sharia law.
Mr Perks is particularly keen on chopping off hands as a means of deterring theft.
I'm not sure it will ever catch on in Dudley.
Nigel Farage needs to weed out his nutters or be for ever known as the leader of the Raving Monster Eurosceptic Party.
Millions of us would not wipe our dog with the EU flag but are appalled by the loony bins that cluster under the UKIP banner.
Nigel Farage has complained that the Tories are trying to smear UKIP.
I don't know why the Tories would bother. UKIP is doing a wonderful job of smearing itself.
