Man arrested after drugs, stolen guns found in home - WANE

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Police arrested a man after serving a warrant at his home on Barr Street Friday morning. Officers found drugs and guns, two of which were reported stolen.

According to police, the Fort Wayne Police Department's Vice and Narcotics Division, along with members of the Emergency Services Team served a search warrant at 3916 Barr Street shortly before 7 a.m. Friday. Detectives received information that someone from that address was dealing drugs and obtained the search warrant.

During the search, four adults and two children were found inside of the home.

Police also found four firearms, two of which had been reported stolen, marijuana, "spice," drug paraphernalia, and numerous pills.

Police arrested Sherman Baylock, 32, on the following charges:

  • Possession of Controlled Substance, a class D felony
  • Possession of Stolen Property (2 Counts), a class D felony
  • Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a class D felony
  • Possession of Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor
  • Possession of Marijuana, a misdemeanor
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Domestic Batterer, a misdemeanor

Police said Baylock's bond was set at $12,000.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) Fort Wayne office assisted with the firearms aspect of this case.

According to police, Fort Wayne Animal Control Officers were called out to the scene to take custody of two Pit Bull dogs and two snakes.

Police said this incident remains under investigation.
