Sheriff IDs three people killed in head-on crash - Oakland Press

SOUTH LYON (AP) — Suburban Detroit authorities have identified three Salem Township residents who were killed in a head-on crash.

The Oakland County sheriff's department says in a release Wednesday that 68-year-old Mary Hammon, 71-year-old Jackie Hammon, and 66-year-old Judith Shedell all died at the scene.

The Christmas afternoon crash happened in South Lyon and forced the closure of Eight Mile Road, which marks the border between South Lyon and Washtenaw County's Salem Township.

Authorities say Mary Hammon was driving an eastbound Honda Civic when it was struck by a westbound Ford Taurus driven by a 31-year-old woman from Livonia. Authorities say the Taurus crossed the centerline.

Sheriff officials say in a release the unidentified driver of the Taurus was listed in stable condition at a hospital.

An investigation is ongoing.
