Authorities say two people were killed in an accident involving a forklift and a Honda Civic just east of Santa Maria on Thursday.
It happened around 2:45 p.m. one mile north of Betteravia on Philbric Road.
The California Highway Patrols says there were four people inside the car when it crashed. Two died at the scene. One person was taken to the hospital by ambulance, and the fourth was taken to the hospital by helicopter.
The driver of the forklift had minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
