Identification Process Begins for People Killed in Peruvian Helicopter Crash - KCEN-TV

(KCEN) -- One day after a helicopter crash in Peru killed five Americans and two Peruvians the remains were gathered for identification.

An official from the U.S. Consulate visited the area that was littered with debris.

Fire slowed initial attempts to recover the seven employees of Oregon-based Columbia helicopters.

The helicopter crashed Monday after taking off east of Lima.

It apparently tried to drop cargo as it lost power and newspaper reports said at least three people on board tried to jump from the aircraft.

Early reports said they worked for a Canada-based oil exploration firm, but the firm later denied those reports.
