Doctor arrested on drug charges is suspended - Russellville Courier

FORT SMITH (AP) — The Arkansas State Medical Board has issued an emergency order to suspend the medical license of a Fort Smith doctor who faces drug and weapons charges.

Dr. Jimmy Acklin and two people who lived at his home in Crawford County were arrested in September on charges of drug manufacturing and firearms charges. All three have pleaded not guilty to charges of manufacturing marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Medical board attorney Kevin O'Dwyer told the Northwest Arkansas Times (http://bit.ly/SPRkEX) Monday that the board suspended Acklin after reviewing the charges.

Neither Acklin nor his attorney returned phone calls seeking comment.

Acklin is on leave from the Area Health Education Center in Fort Smith where he trained young doctors entering family practice medicine.
