POTSDAM ? An Orange County man with an apartment in Potsdam has been charged with possession of child pornography.
Colin P. Baxter, 24, Washingtonville, was charged Friday with promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child and possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, village police said Wednesday.
He was arrested following a joint investigation by village police and the Department of Homeland Security.
Members of both agencies seized several computer items and electronic storage devices from his Bay Street residence. A forensic examination of the seized items found they contained multiple illegal images and videos of obscene sexual performances by children under the age of 16, police said.
He was arraigned in Potsdam Village Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, in lieu of $2,500 bail or $5,000 bond.
