MANILA - Customs authorities at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 arrested on Wednesday a South African suspected of bringing illegal drugs to the Philippines.
The suspect, Reyneke Dubble, yielded 8.5 kilos of illegal drugs concealed inside food products placed in his luggage, Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon said.
Dubble was a passenger on board Emirates Airline flight EK 332 from the Middle East.
He is the subject of an alert from Dubai's customs department and is believed to be a member of an African drug syndicate.
Charges of illegal importation of prohibited drugs will be filed against Dubble.
He faces life imprisonment if found guilty. Report by Raoul Esperas
