HILLSIDE, N.J. — Two men, one from Hickory and another from Morganton, who came to New Jersey to help the state recover from Superstorm Sandy are now charged with trying to rob a CVS drug store.

Hillside police told The Star-Ledger newspaper that David Dockery, 28, of Morganton and Jerry Lee Williams, 34, of Hickory were arrested Thanksgiving night and charged with burglary and criminal mischief.

Officers responding to an alarm around 11:45 p.m. found someone had broken a window in drive-thru area of the store and attempted to pry a lock in the drugstore with a crowbar. The two men were soon found in a cargo van that was traveling on railroad tracks behind the store.

The Star-Ledger reported that police believe the two men were looking for prescription drugs when they tried to break into the CVS drugstore.

Authorities say Dockery and Williams had been subcontracted by Comcast to perform repairs in areas that were hit by the storm. It wasn't known Saturday if either man had retained an attorney.

The men are being held at the Hillside Police Department pending a decision on a bail amount, according to the Star-Ledger.
