(ABC 6 News) -- Police are still searching for two men while 18 others sit in jail as part of a major drug bust Thursday morning.
The sweep was part of "Operation Heatwave." Police are confident they will capture the two remaining suspects in the next few days.
On Thursday morning officers searched a number of locations for one of the men but couldn't find him. They believe he's still in Rochester.
However, with 18 out of 20 in jail, they're calling the sweep a success.
Since last summer, a number of law agencies were busy setting up Thursday morning's sweep.
"It takes time, it takes a lot of effort," says Rochester Police Investigation's Captain, Brian Winters. "It involved sales of drugs to undercover informants."
At 6:30 a.m., the sweep began. Teams of officers, including Rochester Police, the DEA, U.S. Marshal's, and the Southeast Minnesota Narcotics Task Force, hit the city streets searching for the 20 different suspects.
"These individuals certainly not only sold and distributed drugs in this community, but, uh, represent a public safety risk to this community," says Winters.
During the raid, police found small amounts of drugs but no weapons. 17 suspects were caught in, or near, Rochester, while an 18th was taken in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
"No one was injured, uh, no one offered any significant resistance, and uh, all were taken to the Olmsted County [Adult] Detention Center," says Winters.
All of the suspects face state charges of selling drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, heroine and methamphetamine. Their ages range from 20 to 49-years-old, and include both men and women.
Four of the men are facing federal charges. They are Jimmy Barker Junior, Dwight Barnes, Quentin Graham, and Michael Brown.
Despite the successful sweep, police remain vigilant.
"To suggest that, uh, drugs are going to be impossible to be purchased on the- in the city of Rochester after this event, uh, would be a little premature," says Winters.
Police expect most of the suspects to be in charged in Olmsted County court on Friday.
