John Mahama, according to the NDC constitution, is the leader of the party. Now, there have been many reported cases of pure corruption involving Cuban scholarships, purchase of airplanes, STX housing deal and clandestine attempted sale of the Merchant Bank. A highly shady deal with Huawei where plane tickets were purchased for top government advisers still begs for answers but all he can do is to go about claiming to be a saint and that if anybody has a case of corruption against him, we can take him to wherever we want. But these are people who promised to launch swift investigations into every newspaper publication of an act of corruption if given the mandate to govern.
During the Kufuor administration, I very well remember the likes of Okudzeto-Ablakwa, Tony Aidoo, Kwesi Pratt, Raymond Archer and ABA Fuseini speaking vehemently against government officials enjoying everything for free. Their argument was premised on the fact that if that largesse was cut down, enough savings could be made to support other important sectors of the economy; then there would be no need for us to go begging before World/IMF and being slapped with deadly conditionalities.
Okudzeto-Ablakwa was actually of the strong belief that the kind of opulence being exhibited by the then government officials was enough to solicit lynching by the suffering masses if it wasn't for the security being offered them. I also remember the late Atta Mills standing in front of customs officers at Tema Port and poking his finger into their faces and accusing them of engaging in acts of naked corruption because they were able to put up houses within just three years of being employed.
I listened to Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings's conversation with Nana Yaa Konadu on Peace FM on 29th October, 2012, on issues of her involvement in Ghana's politics spanning the 19 years her husband was in charge of affairs of the nation, both as military and constitutionally elected head of state. She was asked of why she wants to contest in the upcoming December 7 election when the party she helped her husband to bring into being would also be contesting; and her answer was that the NDC was founded on certain core principles which the current NDC, with its crop of greedy bastards, babies with sharp teeth, old evil dwarfs and its horde of journalistic praise-singing bigots, does not.
Nana Konadu went further to detail plain cats of gargantuan corruption under the current NDC administration with emphasis on how juveniles, who had never had a job prior January 2009, have suddenly become superfluously wealthy. She gave Ghanaians more insight into why she is of the strong belief that the current NDC government is damn corrupt, when she said there are some ministers, particularly the deputies with pick-axe teeth, who actually used to visit her matrimonial home to fill their hunger-induced emaciated bellies with sumptuous meals and were given coins for 'Trotro' fare back to their ramshackle homes.
Nana Konadu said the NDC, in 2008, accused the Kufuor government of corruption but the current level of corruption in the current NDC administration is something that has never happened in our nation's history because we have people who used to war tattered T-shirts only a couple of years ago now being owners of multiple petrol filling stations, executive mansions and fleet of $200,000 apiece V-8 land-cruiser vehicles.
Ironically, these people accumulating this amount of obscene wealth were appointed by a self-acclaimed saint Atta Mills whose piety was akin to that of holy angels in heaven. And while he was alive, he sought to justify these wayward appointees of his by giving new meanings to clear acts of pure corruption and sexual immorality by describing Muntaka's recklessness as "indiscretion" while justifying his immoral sexual behavior by questioning Ghanaians if that was the "first time a government official has travelled abroad with his girlfriend?"
In the end, he left the mantle in the hands of John Mahama, when his sickness which was nonsensically kept secret from the taxpayer, finally overpowered all the lies of his murderous handlers. However, matters have clearly gotten worse under John Mahama's leadership of the NDC because the man himself is involved in numerous questionable government of Ghana dealings with international business transactions involving billions of American dollars.
His flagship transaction, the STX fiasco, actually resulted in a great loss to the nation when in the face of numerous good counsel, by patriotic and knowledgeable people of this nation, he adopted a matchless stiff-necked belligerence, embarked on numerous trips to Dubai and South Korea, bused police personnel to parliament on the night NDC MPs bulldozed the dubious agreement through parliament and carried the late Atta Mills to Tesano-Accra to cut a sod for the commencement of a project that had clearly suffered a still-birth.
And to cover-up their shame, they came up with an alibi that the project didn't materialize due to board-room wrangling between the partners, and that government had absolutely nothing to do with the failure. Meanwhile, it was their immature and foul-mouthed bigots as Hannah Bissiw, Kojo Twum-Boafo, Okuzdeto-Ablakwa, Anita De Sosoo and their praise-singing journalists as Kwesi Pratt, Alhassan Suhiyini and others that attacked all well-meaning Ghanaians who sounded a note of caution about the doubtful nature of the project, as nothing but plain-faced nation-wreckers.
The case of how Amajaro's suspended licence by Ghana government, following the company's alleged nefarious activities in purchase of cocoa, was swiftly restored immediately after John Mahama has had a sumptuous dinner with its directors is still begging for answers. The mystery surrounding Ghana coughing out millions of dollars to pay for young trainees in Cuba, when it is an established fact that these students are studying under full government of Cuba scholarships.
Tens of millions of dollars expended on common accessories for planes purchased being from Brazil and so on. And in the face of all these mounting doubts about John Mahama's personal commitment to fighting corruption, he has dared us to summon him before any state investigative agency, when these are the same people who accused Kufuor of not dealing decisively with acts of corruption and promised to go all out to launch a devastating war on corruption by investigating every single newspaper publication of an act of corruption under their governance.
As we speak, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, who heads the operation wing of John Mahama's electioneering campaign for the presidency, has been openly accused of engaging in corruption of mind-blowing magnitude. He is said to have purchased three executive mansions at the cost of $650,000 each ($950,000). In addition to this are revelations of other multi-million palatial edifices within exclusive Trasaaco enclave. Asiedu-Nketia, who is spearheading the campaign coordination, is a member of board of Bui Dam project and a sole provider of diamond-plated blocks to the entire project. He is also believed to have put up many other identical multi-million dollar mansions in Kumasi and Accra.
Personally, I have never had a problem with the white-man describing Africans as inferior since we simply lack the sense of urgency to pursue what is good. Looking at how prospective leaders are scrutinized and held accountable for every step they take, as state officials in these civilized nations, no official of the current government would measure up to the position of a KVIP attendant if they found themselves in any of these nations. Ghana is currently under a government that has replaced conscientiousness with abject mediocrity and mindless mediocrity while plain-faced state sanctioned thievery has now become the criteria by which the current John Mahama-led NDC government proudly prides itself in.
After accusing Kufuor's administration of massive corruption and promising the good people of Ghana a nation where such acts will be a thing of the past, we are currently experiencing levels of corruption that is simply unprecedented in our nation's history. And rather shamelessly, this bunch of Mills-Mahama-Amissah-Arthur-led bunch of crude nation-wreckers and its horde of 'chop-chop' 'nkwan deewa' journalistic charlatans, is seeking to lead us for another four years; MAY GOD FORBID!!!
