The alleged ringleader of a drug syndicate supplying ecstasy, cannabis, and ice to the south coast was arrested yesterday after an "exhaustive" police investigation.

The 34-year-old woman believed to be at the centre of the major local drug ring was arrested at a Batemans Bay motel yesterday.

Police allege she was importing drugs mailed to her from Canada.

The syndicate was believed to supplying the south coast area with cannabis, liquid MDMA, and crystal methylamphetamine.

Officers attached to Operation Whisker have been trying to disrupt the supply of drugs to the south coast since May this year.

The operation culminated with yesterday's arrest.

Officers charged the alleged ringleader with nine offences, including supplying a prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, importing a controlled substance and importing border controlled drugs.

She is due to appear in Batemans Bay Local Court today.

Police also arrested a 21-year-old Merimbula man on Tuesday, charging him with a range of drug offences.

He is currently on remand and is due to appear in court again on November 12.
