RAWALPINDI - Obscene compact disk (CD) business has gained ground in the garrison city following the imposition of ban by Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) on web sites infested with x-rated movies.
This immoral business had been peaking in all the known markets of the city, particularly the Imperial Market and Mughal Serai Market in broad day light with impunity and in collusion with corrupt elements within the police department. Bundles upon bundles of CDs could be seen in the shops while the rolling sinister eyes of the shopkeepers were on the lookout to entrap the sexually frustrated men and women hovering like drones around the market.
This immoral trade was not confined to CDs alone, but the business of down loading of obscene clips into mobile phone memory cards was also on the rise and raked in good profits for the shopkeepers.
People could buy an obscene CD between Rs. 30 to Rs. 45 and DVD from Rs. 50 to Rs. 55 in the Imperial Market and Mughal Serai market and the prices fell automatically if it was a whole sale deal.
These markets had not only been bubbling with foreign x-rated movies but the sale of obscene local clips was also making rounds in these markets.
The question as from where this vulgarity breeding business had been originating had been asked for quite some time, but the queries are hushed up by influential people who supported this business. They roll out nude video clips and bring it to markets in the shape of CDs.
Police had been harvesting money as this business had become more lucrative for cops rather than the traders. As soon as any client comes out of a shop he would be overtaken by policemen clad in plain clothes. But he had to surrender and had to find a way out by giving away bribes at the cost of morality, ethics and social norms.
