Why China's Sex Tape Scandal Isn't True Corruption Crackdown - New Tang Dynasty Television

Sex tapes. Extortion. Prostitution. It's all over the media in China—even state-run media. Last November, one official from Chongqing, Lei Zhengfu, was sacked after whistleblower Zhu Ruifeng released a video of Lei sleeping with an 18-year-old girl. The video was secretly filmed back in 2007 by a developer who was trying to bribe and extort officials for favorable business deals. And just last week, 10 more officials were fired as part of the same scandal. Does this case mean China's new leadership is truly determined to crack down on corruption? Why did it take so long to come to light? And what connection does it have with Bo Xilai, the former Party head of Chongqing?

(The numbers are similar for 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009.) This includes all men, not just those in the NFL age bracket; it also includes all assaults, not just intimate violence assaults.

Love Canal Was Supposed to Cause Cancer. How Many People Died? - Slate Magazine

Ninety percent of cancer is environmental—we heard that again and again. Some of our fears were rooted in a misunderstanding. Epidemiologists define environment very broadly to include everything that is not the direct result of heredity—smoking, eating, exercise, the bearing of children, sexual habits, any kind of behavior or cultural practice. Viruses, exposure to sunlight, radon, cosmic rays—these are all defined as environmental. There was a chance of a person getting a head start on cancer by inheriting a damaged gene. But most of the mutations that triggered a malignancy were those acquired during life. That was encouraging news for public health and prevention.
