NBA: Brooklyn's Blatche fined for obscene gesture - Yahoo Singapore News

Brooklyn Nets forward Andray Blatche was fined $15,000 by the NBA on Saturday for making an obscene gesture late in his team's 101-100 home victory Friday over Miami.

Rod Thorn, the NBA president of basketball operations, announced the fine for a violation that took place with 2:40 remaining in the fourth quarter of the triumph over the defending NBA champions.

The Nets had lost 13 games in a row against Miami over 4 1/2 years before beating the Heat in a home opener that included retired football icon David Beckham and retired NBA legend Magic Johnson as spectators.

The Heat fell to 1-2 to start the season and have lost back-to-back games for the first time since last January, although they rallied with a 10-point run in the final minutes to keep the pressure on Brooklyn to the finish.

Nets coach Jason Kidd was absent, serving the final contest in a two-game suspension imposed by the NBA for pleading guilty in a drunk driving case.
