MOUNT VERNON, Ill. Services are set for one of three people killed when their sport utility vehicle left a southern Illinois freeway and overturned several times after being hit by a car.
Fifty-two-year-old Deloris Jones of Mount Vernon died at the scene of the Interstate 64 wreck early Thursday, along with 51-year-old Luther Wyatt and 57-year-old Roberta Jones. Wyatt and Roberta Jones also are from Mount Vernon.
Authorities say a car driven by a 20-year-old Simpson man hit the SUV, causing that vehicle to leave the road near Woodlawn.
The car's driver has been ticketed for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for violating a license restriction involving eyewear.
Deloris Jones' services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
The crash's cause is being investigated.
