The man, 46, was arrested at a bayside suburban home on Wednesday morning and will be charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of drugs.
The amount of drugs alleged to have been imported has not been disclosed, but police say the arrest disrupts a large drug syndicate.
He is the third man to be arrested in Melbourne as part of Operation Trident, a multi-agency taskforce set up last year to focus on corruption and organised crime at maritime ports.
In June, Nabil Karam, 41, of Balwyn, and Antonio Sergi, 39, of Sydenham, were charged with trafficking a large commercial amount of MDMA, among other offences.
The third man will face the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
