COHASSET POLICE: Third arrest in cocaine case - Wicked Local

A Roslindale man already facing one cocaine trafficking charge was arraigned last week on another after a joint local and federal task force recovered just under a pound of cocaine from his residence, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

This is the third arrest as a result of a long-term investigation into drug sales in Cohasset and Weymouth by Cohasset police and several other police agencies. Two other men were arrested Oct. 18 and face cocaine trafficking charges.

Enrique Camilo, 38, was arraigned Oct. 26 on charges of trafficking in cocaine as a second or subsequent offense. Camilo is being held on $100,000 cash bail and was ordered to surrender his passport.

The Oct. 26 proceedings in West Roxbury District Court followed Camilo's arrest that morning at Logan Airport on a warrant Boston Police obtained after an Oct. 18 search of his Roslindale residence.

Acting on a West Roxbury District Court search warrant, Boston Police, along with Drug Enforcement Administration agents and officers of the Weymouth and Cohasset police departments, recovered 414 grams of cocaine in three plastic bags from his apartment. They also recovered a bottle of inositol, commonly used as a cutting agent, three boxes of plastic bags, and personal papers bearing Camilo's name and photo.

At the time of his arrest – and at the time the search warrant was executed – Camilo was facing an unrelated 2010 case in Norfolk County also alleging cocaine trafficking. His bail in that case was reduced to personal recognizance after it was learned that the drugs had been tested by a former DPH chemist now accused of mishandling evidence. Camilo return to court on Nov. 26.

In 2011, Cohasset Police detectives developed information about the trafficking of cocaine from Boston into Cohasset, which led detectives to monitor activity at locations in Cohasset where cocaine sales were taking place.

Police said the suspects were delivering the drug to residents' homes or meeting them in the Village. Twelve to 15 homes in Cohasset were involved, police said.

Based on the information obtained through extensive surveillance in Cohasset and Boston as well as other advanced investigative techniques, detectives were able to develop evidence of a Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO) that delivered illegal drugs the South Shore. During their investigation, Cohasset Police learned that the Weymouth Police Narcotics Unit was also investigating common elements of the DTO, and a joint investigation was initiated between Cohasset and Weymouth Police, with the assistance of DEA and Boston Police.

The two other men arrested on cocaine trafficking charges as a result of this investigation were Rafael Torres, 30, Roslindale and Gabriel A. Martinez, 27, of Dorchester.
