NEW HAVEN — Police arrested four people for drug and weapons violations in a Dec. 30 incident.

Officers spotted a man they were familiar with allegedly emerging from a backyard crack deal. He gave up his purchase and was later arrested, but agreed to help identify the alleged dealers.

Officers later pulled over a car with four occupants after it was identified by the man, police said. The driver, Danny Rodriguez of West Haven gave up his marijuana, police said. Passenger Jeffniqua Smith was allegedly in possession of crack cocaine.

Another passenger, Madeline Lopez of New Haven allegedly had a .380 handgun in her purse. Joshua Roman of New Haven had no contraband on his person, but was in close proximity to the drugs found in the car, police said.

All four were arrested on drug and weapon charges.
