Jonathan Melvin Fox, 25, of the 24000 block of John Adams Drive, Plainfield, was arrested by Plainfield police after a fender-bender led to the discovery of illegally obtained prescription drugs, police said. According to Sgt. Mike Fisher, police responded to a minor crash outside the Plainfield police office, 14855 S. Van Dyke Rd., at 1:34 p.m. Saturday. "When officers responded, [Fox] gave off signs that he was intoxicated," Fisher said, adding that while Fox did not smell of alcohol or cannabis, it was apparent that "he was under the influence of something." No one was hurt in the accident, police said. Responding officers discovered several prescription medications in his vehicle, including one bottle that was missing a prescription label, Fisher said. After being transported to the Plainfield Police Department on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, Fox was taken to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, police said. According to booking records, Fox was booked into the county jail Jan. 22 on charges of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. Fisher said police are investigating how Fox obtained the drugs.
