Two men have been arrested and controlled drugs have been seized in Cromer as part of a force-wide clampdown on criminal activity across the county.

Police officers have teamed up with PCSOs, special constabulary colleagues and other partners to carry out raids and patrols throughout Norfolk today (Thursday, October 11) as part of a high impact campaign, codenamed Operation Octane.

In Cromer, two men were arrested after controlled drugs were found at an address in Jubilee Lane. The drugs have been seized and the two men are currently in custody at Aylsham Police Investigation Centre.

The operation is throwing a public spotlight on the range of work carried out every day across the county to target prolific criminals and those making life difficult for local residents.

Assistant chief constable Gareth Wilson, who accompanied officers on raids in Norwich this morning, said the county-wide blitz would continue throughout the day and would not be a one off.

"This simultaneous and intense burst of activity will take place over a significant period of time and will be focused principally against prolific criminals who commit crimes of great concern to the public," he said.

"We are pleased with the results we have achieved so far and have a series of raids planned for the rest of the day."

He added: "Not only will we be targeting specific individuals to bring home our message that crime will not be tolerated in Norfolk, we will also be providing advice and safety messages to residents and visitors on how to avoid becoming a victim of crime.

"Our priorities are the crimes that affect people most such as burglary and anti-social behaviour but also those that cause the most harm such as drug offences, sexual offences and violent crime."
