2 killed in crash near Las Vegas Strip - KVVU Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Two people were killed in a crash just east of the Las Vegas Strip early Wednesday morning.

The two-car crash happened about 1 a.m. near the intersection of Desert Inn and Paradise roads.

Sgt. Richard Strader, of Las Vegas Metro police, said one of the vehicles flipped and hit a palm tree, killing the two people inside. He said the driver of the second vehicle left the scene of the crash, but broke down a short time later and the driver fled the scene.

"He was taken into custody shortly after he fled the scene to one of the local hotels where he had checked in," Strader said.

The intersection will be closed while authorities investigate the crash, Strader said.

Strader urged drivers not to drink and drive.

The identities of neither the victims nor the arrested driver were immediately released.
