Remember those obscene signs causing lots of controversy in Grand Island? Well, the city has officially filed legal complaints in Hall County District Court.

According to the Grand Island Independent, the Assistant City Attorney, Stacy Nonhof, filed two complaints Friday to remove the signs on a property on East 3rd street and East 5th street.

City officials say the signs violate city code because of size and because a permit was not obtained to put the signs up.

This has been an ongoing battle between property owner Larry Tourangeau and the city for the past several years.

The city has asked Tourangeau to remove the profanity laden signs on numerous occasions.

City Council voted in June to get a court order to force the removal of the signs.
