Two arrested for drugs - Bolivar Commercial

Two brothers were arrested Oct. 13 after Bolivar County Sheriff's Deputies discovered four ounces of high grade marijuana, around 16 fluid ounces of codeine cough syrup and nearly $2,200 cash at 1146 Old Hwy 61 North in Renova.

Sonterrius Brown, 19, and Terrance Brown 20, were both arrested after the search warrant was executed and the drugs and money were found.

Total value for the drugs is estimated at around $2,500.

Codeine syrup is a Schedule IV controlled substance that is prescribed as a cough syrup. This medicine has become prevalent for mixing with various drinks to make the popular concoction "Lean" or "Sizzurp."

Sonterrius Brown was charged with Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute as well as Possession of a Controlled Substance over 100 dosage units. Terrance Brown was arrested for Simple Possession of Marijuana.

Terrance Brown was released on $600 bond for the misdemeanor charge. Sonterrius Brown had an initial appearance before Circuit Court Judge Albert "Al" Smith, at which time bond was set for at $10,000. Sonterrius Brown has since made bond and been released.
