Nigerian drug dealers arrested on Long St - Eyewitness News

CAPE TOWN – Two Nigerian nationals were arrested after being found in possession of drugs in the Cape Town CBD over the weekend.

The arrest comes after an integrated drug intelligence-driven operation in Long Street on Friday.

During a stop-and-search operation, undercover officers apprehended the two men for being in possession of dagga and cocaine.

The Western Cape police's Frederick van Wyk said, "Both suspects are due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates' Court on charges relating to dealing in drugs and being in the possession of drugs."

He said, "Provincial police management would like to thank the public for their assistance in the fight against drugs and appeal to the public to report all illegal activity."

Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town's JP Smith says they keep a close eye on suspects with their state-of-the-art CCTV system.

"The CCTV cameras helps because it documents their behaviour for court purposes."
