A man seen slipping through a gap in a fence to get into the Sherman Hills Apartments was arrested on drug charges after police found him in possession of crack cocaine and heroin, police said.

David Charles Callahan, of East Oak Street, Pittston, was hit with criminal trespassing, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and drug charges after police arrested him at 271 N. Sherman St. about 2 p.m. Saturday. Police say a man was seen entering the complex through a gap in the fence and that he used a zip tie to put the fence in place when he was through.

Callahan fled police who confronted him as he was leaving, but he was quickly caught, according to police.

He was found in possession of 10 bags of crack cocaine and two bags of heroin, police said. He had bloodshot eyes and was having trouble understanding questions, according to police. Callahan was taken to police headquarters for processing.
