Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Two people were killed in an early morning collision on West Desert Inn Road, just west of Paradise Road.
It happened around 1:15 Wednesday morning. Police said two vehicles were traveling westbound on Desert Inn when somehow they collided.
The crash sent an older Mercedes into the median. A Dodge pickup truck hit a retaining wall, flipped and then hit a tree. The truck ended up in a church parking lot.
Both people in the truck were killed.
Las Vegas police said speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
The driver of the Mercedes, 24-year-old Hans Bludau, attempted to run from the scene but was caught by police. He was then booked into the Clark County Detention Center for Felony Hit and Run and Felony DUI.
The Clark County coroner's office will release the names of the deceased after relatives have been notified.
