Five arrested in early morning drugs raid - Wigan Today

POLICE in Skelmersdale have arrested five people as part of their on-going efforts to tackle organised criminality in Skelmersdale.

Four men aged 27, 28, 43 and 48 and one woman aged 18 were arrested on Thursday morning (October 10) on suspicion of conspiring to supply class B drugs as part of Operation Legend, an investigation into organised criminality in the area. At around 7am, officers executed a series of coordinated warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act at 11 addresses in the Digmoor and surrounding areas of Skelmersdale as they continue their efforts to tackle drug related criminality.

Chief Inspector for West Lancashire Police Ian Whitehead said: "Today's arrests are part of a long term, on-going operation to disrupt, tackle and prevent criminals from operating in Skelmersdale.

"The arrests follow several months of hard work by our staff who have been targeting organised crime groups and arresting those profiting from criminality."
