Two arrested for drugs after roommate assaulted by burglars - KSFY

Three man broke into an apartment and assaulted a resident, police said. The victim's two roommates were arrested when police arrived on scene and found drugs in the apartment.

Police responded to the 4200 block of W. Valhalla Ave. Monday evening for an assault call. Three men broke in to the victim's apartment and started attacking him. The victim, 21, tried to run to the bathroom, but he was hit with a small sledge hammer and then a crow bar, police said.

The victim said one of his attackers was a Hispanic male with a black jacket who had a handgun and the sledge hammer. The man with the crow bar was wearing a 'winter-style' cap, and a third attacker had a big knife and was wearing a bandana.

When police arrived at the apartment, they also found a man and a woman sleeping through the attack. Joseph Johnson, 21, of Sioux Falls, and Jennifer Arens, 22, of Yankton, were arrested for a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia when the police arrived on scene.
