Cops arrest drug suspect - Sun.Star

AUTHORITIES arrested Friday a suspected illegal drug pusher in a buy-bust operation on Carmelite Road, Block 4, Lanang in Davao City.

Superintendent Johnson Almazan, chief of the Davao City Police Office's Investigation and Detection Management Branch (DCPO–IDMB), identified the suspect as Rolan Tumabang Sapar, 34, taxi driver, resident of Carmelite Road.

The DCPO-IDMB with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Davao Region personnel conducted the operation around 2 p.m.

Almazan said the suspect was arrested after he handed one elongated sachet of suspected shabu to a policeman who acted as a poseur buyer.

Recovered from the possession of the suspect were one elongated sachet of suspected shabu, one caliber .45 pistol with one magazine loaded with seven live ammunition, and P1,000 marked money.

Recovered also from the taxi unit of the suspect were six P500 bills, two $1 bills, one piece tobacco container tube, 12 elongated sachets of suspected shabu with a street value of P12,000, one medium size sachet containing dried marijuana leaves, one stick of dried marijuana leaves rolled in a paper, five pieces heat sealed sachets of suspected shabu, one disposable lighter, and one improvised water pipe tooter.

The authorities also confiscated the white Toyota Vios taxi marked as RHOLYN MAE with body number 1777 and plate number LWY 700.

Almazan said they have been monitoring the suspect for three weeks before it was confirmed that he was selling illegal drugs in the city.

Almazan said the seized illegal drugs are now at Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory for examination.

Meanwhile, the suspect, who refused to be interviewed, is now detained at DCPO jail facility.

Almazan added that the suspect will be charged with violation of the Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Republic Act 8294, otherwise known as The Illegal Possession of Firearms. (ICT)
