Facebook users, if you happen to come across a link that says it will bring you to a site that features a hot and steamy Miley Cyrus sex tape, don't click on it, it's a scam! The hoax "breaking news" link (which spread like wildfire on the popular social networking site this past weekend) uses Cyrus as bait and attempts to draw in Facebook users (mostly men) by alleging to host a webpage that contains the new and exposed celebrity sex tape starring the 19-year-old starlet. Those who fall prey to the scam may ultimately become victims of cyber identity theft. Read on for details.

A report on HotforSecurity.com claims that the hoax "Miley Cyrus sex tape" post that is spreading on Facebook is a form of "tagjacking." Here is the bogus link that has appeared on many users' Facebook walls since the weekend:

According to HotforSecuirty blogger Ioana Jelea, "By clicking the image, users are taken to a web page where the video appears to be hosted. When trying to play the clip, users are requested to first prove that they are not underage."

Many users then fall victim to the "copy/paste code" method which allows the scammer to steal their Facebook authentication token (a form of identity theft). With this personal info, the scammer could ultimately gain access to the user's entire Facebook account.

Jelea insists that "the stolen authentication tokens are put to excellent use and the scam circle can go round and round."

So all of you Facebook users and Cyrus fans out there - don't click on anything that resembles the link above if you happen to come across it. Not only is it a total waste of time and may threaten your personal privacy, but it could also lead to utter embarrassment - once clicked on, it will appear on your own Facebook Timeline and may even tag all of your friends.

This is not the first time Cyrus has fallen victim to a sex tape scandal hoax - back as early as 2009, a porn video began spreading on the web featuring a Miley Cyrus look-alike.
