Two people killed, another seriously injured in Route 54 crash - Sunbury Daily Item

MARION HEIGHTS — Two people were killed and at least one other person seriously injured in a two vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Route 54 near Marion Heights in Northumberland County.

The two cars - a silver GMC Envoy and a black Dodge pick-up - collided while they were traveling on Route 54 near the intersection with Park Avenue, according to police at the scene. Both cars had Pennsylvania license plates.

No further details about the accident were immediately available.

Two people, both passengers in the Envoy, were pronounced dead at the scene by Northumberland County James Kelley. The identities of the victims were not released Monday.

At least one other crash victim was airlifted by a medical helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Another person was taken from the scene in an ambulance.

Route 54 was closed between Park Avenue in Mount Carmel Township and Route 61 from 12:15 until 4:30 as police worked to examine the scene.
