A Fayetteville High School student is facing a felony charge of drug possession after a fight in the lobby of the high school Friday.

Nathaniel Korth, 18, was booked into the Washington County Detention Center and released on $2,500 bond Saturday, according to the Sheriff Department's website. Korth faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver, and a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

A preliminary police report said Fayetteville police responded to a call after a fight broke out at the school. The report said Korth had punched another student in the face Thursday after the other student asked to see marijuana and then acted as if he wasn't going to return it.

The fight on Friday happened when one of Korth's friends approached the same student and his friends to talk about the previous incident, the report said. Korth and the other student were in the assistant principal's office when police arrived and a search of Korth found rolling papers and eight small baggies that are commonly used for hold marijuana, the report said.

Police discovered Korth had driven his car to school and parked on campus and asked Korth if they could search his vehicle, at which point the officer said Korth asked if that was legal and began to act "fidgety," the report said.

When the police approached Korth's car, they saw another man taking a box out of the car, the report said. The man, identified as Shae Hatfield, told officers he was retrieving something for his friend and, as the officer opened the box, said there were drugs inside, the report said.

The report said the officer asked if Korth had texted the individual and Hatfield said Korth had, reading the text to the officer that said "go break into my car and get the drugs."

The report said the box contained a scale, several pipes and film canister containing four baggies that held grams of marijuana ranging from 1.4 to 4.3. The report said Hatfield was also arrested and faces the same charges as Korth, but there was no information on Hatfield on the Sheriff's Department website.
