2 arrested in Stevenson after surrendered marijuana reveals bigger drug stash - al.com (blog)

STEVENSON, Alabama -- Jackson County narcotics agents quickly found that two suspects who willingly surrendered marijuana actually had much more to hide.

A release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office states that on Tuesday, agents investigated a complaint of drug activity at a residence on County Road 96 in Stevenson. One of the suspects inside, 41-year-old Tammy Sue Wilson of Dutton, handed over a bag of marijuana.

Agents still smelled marijuana burning inside and obtained a search warrant. Investigators found and seized more marijuana, methamphetamine, Lortabs, phentermine, drug paraphernalia, prescription medications, three firearms and $7,312 in cash.

Wilson and 72-year-old Esmon Romie Liles of Stevenson were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance for the meth, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Liles was additionally charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance for the pills, attempt to commit a controlled substance crime and possessing a firearm when prohibited. Wilson was also charged with unlawful possession of prescription drugs. Both remain in the Jackson County Jail with no bonds set.
