Arrests in North West after serious and organised crime investigation - BBC News

Eleven people have been arrested on suspicion of drugs, firearms, violence and money laundering offences in Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

Officers carrying out morning raids also found a cannabis farm with about 100 plants in Fazakerley, Liverpool.

The homes targeted were in Southport, Ainsdale, Anfield, Wallasey, Huyton, Banks and Aughton.

Properties in Manchester, Hyde, Woodhouses and Stockport were also searched.

Ten men and one woman have been detained for questioning.

Police said the arrests are linked to a North West police operation in September that saw 13 people charged after search warrants were issued.

Det Supt Jason Hudson said: "This operation shows our continued determination to tackle gun crime and high level drug trafficking in the North West.

"We will rigourously pursue anyone believed to be involved in serious and organised crime and appeal to members of the public with any information about illegal activity across the North West to call police."
