Complaints related to obscene calls besiege women's helpline - Times of India

A majority of women callers have complained about getting obscene phone calls and messages, said inspector Sunita Cornelius.

Besides, six cases have been registered so far in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Ashta, Shajapur and Satna districts on the basis of complaints received on the women helpline.

Nodal officers have been appointed in every district to ensure quick assistance to the complainants.Apart from nodal officers, women helpline also gets in touch with police officials or concerned police stations from where the cases are reported. They also seek compliance of complaints forwarded through it.

It has been just five days since helpline has been started, the service would benefit more victims as they get familiar with it, officials added.

Around 40 to 50 policemen- from senior officials to constables have been posted in the 24x7 helpline where they work in different shifts.
