CAPITOLA - Two men were arrested Sunday afternoon after police saw them conducting an apparent drug deal in an alley behind Save Mart on 41st Avenue, police said.

The man allegedly selling the drugs, Jose Guerrero Gonzalez, had his 1-year-old child in the car with him, Sgt. Cliff Sloma said.

Gonzalez, 37, of Santa Cruz, was found with about 2.5 grams of cocaine and methamphetamine, and was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs for sale and child endangerment, Sloma said. Gonzalez had an undisclosed amount of cash and it was seized as evidence, Sloma said.

The child was released to its mother, Sloma said.

The alleged buyer, 36-year-old Felipe Guerrero Salas of Capitola, was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs and obstruction of justice, Sloma said.

Both were no longer in custody Monday, County Jail records show.
