SWAT Team Assists with Norwood Drug Arrest - WKRC TV Cincinnati

Early Saturday morning, the Hamilton County SWAT Team, in cooperation with the Norwood Drug Task Force, raided a home on Lafayette Avenue. They were investigating a tip that marijuana was being grown inside.

They roused 58 year-old John Pfau from his sleep and he was arrested.

Officials on the scene said they found 25 mature pot plants inside the home along with several smaller ones. Norwood Police Lieutenant Mark Rankin says the pot has a street value of about $30,000.

A reason for the use of the SWAT team is the potential for violence and the possible presence of weapons. Rankin says officers found an assault rifle and a 45-caliber pistol.

"There were a lot of unknowns today," Rankin told Local 12.

"Any time you have unknowns with a search warrant or a drug house it becomes somewhat of a high risk."

Pfau was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center. He has been charged with trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs and cultivating marijuana. He'll be arraigned on those charges Monday morning.
