Two men arrested for drugs face immigration holds - Access North Georgia

BUFORD - In unrelated cases, authorities arrested two men in the 900 block of Gainesville Highway in the Buford portion of Hall County, both on immigration holds.

MANS Lt. Scott Ware said the first arrest came last Thursday. Agents believe 29 year old Mohammad Nazir is from Bangladesh and had been living in Buford.

"He was wanted by ICE for previously escaping during or prior to a deportation process," Ware said.

"He was apparently going through the process. I don't know whether he just left the airport or got off the plane, but he was considered a fugitive by the standard terms from immigration enforcement," Ware added.

Nazir faces methamphetamine trafficking charges and possession with intent to distribute in Hall County. Agents said he had about $5800 worth of meth.

The second case happened Friday. Agents arrested 23 year old Robel Workie Getaneh. They say he had $3400 dollars worth of marijuana. He also has an immigration hold.

Both men were booked into the Hall County Jail.
