Suspect kills self, 4 others, 2 dogs in Phoenix - MyFox Phoenix

PHOENIX -

A neighbor reportedly went on the attack, firing a shotgun through his neighbor's door, then through a window. By the time things settled down, five people were dead.

Neighbors called police after hearing loud gunshots around 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Phoenix police say a man shot his four neighbors and their two dogs before turning the gun on himself.

The SWAT Team surrounded a townhouse complex after neighbors hear a round of gunshots.

Officers discovered a family murdered, including their two dogs.

The suspect, a neighbor, was dead next door from what Phoenix police say appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"When they got to the back patio area, they found two people who had been deceased from gunshot wounds. They went ahead and made an emergency entrance into the apartment and discovered two other victims inside," said Phoenix police spokesperson Sgt. Tommy Thompson.

Police say the suspect shot and killed himself.

"I was sleeping. I heard a gunshot, I quickly jumped and looked out my window and I saw he was looking at the gun then put it back over the wall and shot again," said Stanislav Mitev.

Neighbors say the suspect went to at least one other home, trying to shoot the residents inside.

"We woke up, somebody just banged on our door and they shot four rounds. I guess it was a shotgun, there's big old holes on my door," said Libni Deleon.

It's unclear what sparked the shooting rampage.

Neighbors say the suspect was quiet and usually kept to himself.

"I've seen him every morning--come in quiet every morning. I've waved to him from that blue gate two or three times a week. Never would expect him to be the guy would did this at all," said Donald McKenzie.

Police aren't releasing names at this time, but we've been able to gather from neighbors that it was a family murdered: a grandfather, his daughter, the daughter's partner and a teenager.
