Everyone carrying firearms. A guy walks in, pulls a gun and shoots you. You will be dead before you draw your weapon. The others are so startled, they hesitate and get shot, too.

As for "courage" in carrying a gun. It's just the opposite. Someone being so afraid of what MIGHT happen that they endanger themselves and their families by even owning a firearm. Statistically speaking, that gun you buy for personal protection will be used to kill a family member about 100 times before it's used to kill a "criminal" under any circumstances. And about 1000 times more likely to wound one. It's only frightened, spineless nitwits who carry one. It's NOT giving into fear that defines courage.

So gee, maybe we should like, I know, learn how to handle yourself without relying on a limited, one dimensional weapon like a gun.

- According to the CDC, the number one cause of death for all ages in the first year after purchasing a new gun is suicide. Nothing like proving how much of a coward you are, huh?

Nothing like protecting your family (that was meant literally, not sarcastically).

So, wrapping this up, skills would have helped more than firearms, because you can't rely on a firearm to defend you. That's like saying guns kill people. Having a gun means you don't care about protecting yourself or your family because you automatically increase the odds of an accident, suicide or murder happening because of its presence alone. And carrying one merely proves to the world what kind of coward you really are.

Because I promise you, no matter how "well trained" you may think you are, it all changes and goes to hell when the targets are shooting at you FIRST.
