COPS: Two arrested in Upper Merion with weapons, drugs - The Times Herald

UPPER MERION Norristown police advised Upper Merion police that a car that was in a high drug area in Norristown was returning to Upper Merion on Oct. 12 at 1:26 a.m.

Police located the car in the parking lot of the Wendys on the 300 block of South Henderson Road. The suspect was taken into custody after police found the car and searched it. Police discovered numerous containers of marijuana, two machetes, a shotgun and a knife.

The suspects in the car, who have not been identified by police, were taken into custody.

Burglar leaves findings at scene of the crime

UPPER MERION Police responded to the 200 block of Sweetbriar Circle on Oct. 16 at 1:40 p.m. for a report of a burglary in progress.

According to police, the resident returned home and as he entered the driveway, a suspect ran out of the side door carrying a trash bag. The resident chased the suspect who dropped the bag. Police were alerted and searched the area. A Whitemarsh K-9 unit responded to assist with the search, but the suspect was not found.

Police report the discarded trash bag had items from the home in it.

Thief steals ring out of employees hands

UPPER MERION Police responded to Bailey Banks and Biddle on the 100 block of North Gulph Road for a report of a robbery on Oct. 14 at 4:21 p.m.

A male entered the store and asked to see a princess cut diamond. According to police, the sales associate showed him the diamond and he grabbed it from her and ran out of the store.

An investigation is ongoing.

Group of two steal watches from mall

UPPER MERION Police are investigating a report of a theft from Guess Inc. in the King of Prussia Mall on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.

According to police, a male and a female entered the store and were looking at watches. A few minutes later, two males came into the store and distracted the sales associates. The group of the male and female took 60 watches while the sales associates were distracted.

An investigation is ongoing.

Stolen car found, suspect arrested

UPPER MERION Police arrested a man they found in a stolen vehicle at the Motel 6 on the 800 block of West DeKalb Pike.

Police discovered the Audi A6 was stolen from Springfield Township and arrested the man inside.

They have not released the name of the man arrested.

Suspect steals from Home Depot again

UPPER MERION Police are investigating a theft from the Home Depot on the 100 block of South Gulph Road.

On Oct. 13 at 6:50 p.m., the male suspect entered the store and put multiple power tools into his cart and walked out. The suspect then loaded the tools into his car. One of the store employees attempted to follow the suspect, but lost him in the area of South Gulph and Brooks roads.

Police later learned the same suspect committed a similar theft in September. They also learned he had committed similar crimes in Cheltenham.

Upper Merion, Cheltenham and Philadelphia police are working on in investigation.

Phone scam in hotel

UPPER MERION Police were called to the Valley Forge Radisson on the 1100 block of First Avenue on Oct. 12 at 8 a.m. for a report of a phone scam.

The victim told police she received a call from a male who said he needed to verify her credit card number. She gave him the information and a few hours later checked with the hotel desk. Employees at the desk said no one had called her.

An investigation is ongoing.
