The cause of a two-alarm fire that destroyed a Salem mobile home and killed two people has still not been released.
Crews found the home fully engulfed after being called about 7:10 p.m. Friday to the 5400 block of Portland Road Northeast, the Salem Fire Department said. The blaze initially had to be fought from the outside because of its size.
After the fire was extinguished, two people were found inside apparently dead from smoke inhalation, the department said. They have been identified as Vernon I. Anderson, 82, and Joan M. Anderson, 73, according to the Marion County Medical Examiner's Office.
One firefighter received minor injuries while battling the blaze, the department said. No one else was hurt.
